We know it's a hassle when a machine is out of order. If you encounter a broken ticket machine:
Try another form of payment: If the machine isn't accepting cards, it may still be accepting bills and coins.
Try another machine: Most stations have more than one.
Buy a ticket from a bus operator: If you're at a transit center, you can buy a ticket from a bus operator. (But you'll need exact change. Operators can't give change.)
Tip: You can buy books of 10 tickets in advance at neighborhood ticket outlets including most Albertsons, Fred Meyer and Safeway stores, at the TriMet Ticket Office at Pioneer Courthouse Square and online at trimet.org. Just stamp your ticket in the validator at the station before boarding.
